Archbold’s Laura Kennedy addresses Skills/USA at SWGTC
Laura Kennedy, Employment Manager at Archbold Hospital, addressed members and prospective members of Skills/USA at Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) at the student organization’s August meeting.
Kennedy was invited to speak to the students about employment opportunities at Archbold Medical Center, Thomas County’s largest employer, and also to discuss scholarships and tuition reimbursement opportunities the hospital offers for certain programs.
“We invited Ms. Kennedy to speak to our organization so that our students can be made aware of the opportunities awaiting them as far as employment with Archbold,” said Steve McCoy, Director of Technology Services at SWGTC and Skills USA advisor.
“We have a wonderful relationship with Archbold”, said McCoy. “Archold employs many of our graduates. We want to keep our students informed on what opportunities exist for them so they can plan their education.”
“I love having the opportunity to speak to groups,” said Kennedy. “It is a great way for us to reach people in the community who are seeking employment. I like to stress that we don’t just need nurses, but also laboratory technicians, clerical workers, pharmacy techs, and many others.”
