Four students at Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) have been named “Students of the Quarter” for Winter Quarter 2008. Miosotis “Soti” Marquez, Rosalind “Lisa: Gardner, Elizabeth Ragan, and Zaleudiki Jones were recognized for their achievement and were each awarded a plaque by SWGTC President Dr. Glenn Deibert.
Each quarter, instructors nominate students from their classes to be singled out for this honor. Nominees are then reviewed by the Student Activities Department, who then select a winner from each division at SWGTC.
Honored from the Allied Health division was Marquez, who was nominated by her instructor Glenda Hatcher. Hatcher said of Marquez, “Her warm smile and outstanding personality are contagious. She has such a compassionate heart for helping people in any situation and is a team player who always gives 110%.”
Elizabeth Ragan was selected from the Professional Services division. Her instructor, Jessica Barfield said, “Elizabeth always goes above and beyond on every assignment. She consistently out does her peers and exhibits a true passion for the art of teaching young children. She is a shining example of what SWGTC wants to represent in the community.”
Zaleudiki Jones was nominated from the Technical and Industrial division by instructor Chad Faircloth. “Mr. Jones is excelling in the classroom and in the lab. As a student, he is beginning to take on new roles such as helping and guiding other students,” Faircloth said of Jones.
From the Business Office Technology program, Rosalind “Lisa” Gardner was nominated by her instructor Patricia Christian who said of her, “She has a pleasant and positive attitude. She works hard to excel in her classes, is always very cooperative, and willing to lend a helping hand where needed.”
SWGTC students singled out for Student of the Quarter honor make good grades, stand out as leaders in the classroom, and demonstrate dedication and hard work towards earning a degree or certificate in their chosen program or course of study.
