Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Dennis G. Lee to the position of Vice President of Economic Development.

“I am excited about Mr. Dennis Lee moving into the position of Vice President of Economic Development.  Dennis’ extensive background working in business and industry, combined with his experience at the College as a Dean, Program Director, and Instructor, will benefit our College, our students, and the companies in our three-county service delivery.  Dennis’ knowledge, experience, and expertise will enable him to provide support to our area businesses and industries as well as recommend and identify training programs that will serve and benefit those respective companies,” commented Dr. Craig Wentworth, SWGTC President.

In his new role, Lee will oversee all aspects of SWGTC’s Economic Development Department. These responsibilities include coordinating non-credit Continuing Education Units, Professional Learning Units, and personal enrichment courses, managing the College’s American Heart Association Community Training Center, responding to business and industry customized training needs, coordinating facility rentals with external organizations, and managing the Georgia Quick Start program.

“I am honored to be selected for this position and I look forward to working with the business and industry leaders in the Southwest Georgia Technical College service region.  Gary Pitts did an outstanding job and my goal is to build on his successful leadership,” commented Lee.

He continued his education by graduating with his Master of Business Administration from Valdosta State University. Additionally, Lee is a Certified Quick Start Instructor for Certified Manufacturing Specialist and Certified Warehousing and Distribution Specialist and OSHA Trainer Qualified.

After gaining 10 years’ experience working as an industrial engineer, Lee began a career working as a plant manager for various corporations. In 2005, Lee joined Southwest Georgia Technical College as the program director/instructor for the Management and Supervisory Development (now Business Management) program. Lee was promoted to the Dean of Academic Affairs in 2010, where he managed 14 programs of study (which later became 16) and supervised all full-time and adjunct faculty members.
