SWGTC Library / Media Service Center Policy

Services are provided by the Library/Media Service Center to reinforce and enrich the curriculum offered by Southwest Georgia Technical College. The Center is available to faculty, students, business and industry, and to the general public.

Services
Services include the circulation of library material, instruction in use of resources and services, interlibrary loan, reference services, database searching, computer usage, resource sharing with several organizations through cooperative agreements and instruction in the use of the library.

Selection and Elimination of Materials
The responsibility for coordinating the selection of materials, equipment and supplies rests with the Library/Media Services staff. Input is obtained from faculty, staff, students, business, and industry through surveys, and annual staff meetings to evaluate the collection. Specific criteria are used to remove resource materials from the collection consistent with the goals of the Library/Media Service Center.

Responsibility
The Vice President for Academic Affairs has the overall responsibility for ensuring this policy is implemented.
