Labor Market Analysis
Every five years the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Southwest Georgia Technical College conducts research and prepares a Labor Market Analysis for use in preparing a new strategic plan. The Southwest Georgia Technical College Labor Market Analysis: October 2012, shared with College constituencies and the public, is a review of the state of and changes in the external environment and includes sections on the economy, demographics, social, business and industry, chambers of commerce/economic development reports, results of the Southwest Georgia Technical College Business and Industry Training Needs Survey: FY 2012, summary of employment needs, focus on the future, and government. The scope of the study includes a broad-based examination of external factors from the following sectors: international, United States, State of Georgia, State of Florida, Workforce Investment Area #17, and the College’s three-county service area: Thomas, Mitchell, and Grady counties. The study is used by the College to determine needs for instructional programs and services and to determine the effects that the changing environment will have upon the College’s mission, vision, values, philosophy, College goals, strategic objectives, and role and scope as the College prepares its FY 2013 – FY 2017 Strategic Plan.
