Southwest Georgia Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award Associate Degrees, Diplomas, and Technical Certificates of Credit. Initial accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools: Commission on Colleges was granted in December 1997 and was retroactive to January 1, 1997. A reaffirmation team visit occurred May 6-9. 2002, and the College’s accreditation was reaffirmed December 2002. A reaffirmation team visit occurred by the Off-Site Team on May 10-13, 2011 and by the On-Site Team October 25-27, 2011. The College’s accreditation was reaffirmed June 21, 2012. The College's next reaffirmation is scheduled to take place in 2022.
