TCSG State Board Approves Southern Regional Technical College as New Name for Merging Colleges
On October 2nd, the state board that oversees the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) voted to approve Southern Regional Technical College as the new college name, once the merger of Moultrie Technical College (MTC) and Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) is finalized on July 1, 2015.
October is Disability Awareness Month
Congress has designated each October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). The Office of Disability Employment Policy has the lead in planning NDEAM activities and materials to increase the public's awareness of the contributions and skills of American workers with disabilities. Various programs carried out throughout the month also highlight the specific employment barriers that still need to be addressed and removed.
SWGTC awarded $2.3 Million in Federal Grant Funds
Thomasville, GA - September 29, 2014 - Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) will receive a portion of a $450 million federal community college grant to expand job training through local employer partnerships. These grants are the third installment of a $2 billion, 4-year initiative. The total amount awarded to SWGTC is $2.3 million.
SWGTC Honors Outstanding Students at President’s Reception
On September 8, 2014, SWGTC hosted a President’s Reception to honor exceptional students. The students who were recognized those included on the President’s List for Summer Semester 2014, students named “Student of the Semester” for Summer Semester 2014, and scholarship recipients for Fall Semester 2014.
Foundation Awards over $39,000 in Scholarships for Fall Semester 2014
For Fall Semester 2014, which began on August 19th, the SWGTC Foundation awarded 59 scholarships totaling over $39,000 to SWGTC students.
